Mumbai Mirror has posted a blind item about a superstar, who is an ace negotiator. Bankable stars are a handful in Bollywood. Hence studios are ready to loosen their purse strings to get a top hero on board. Star salaries make up to 60% of the entire movie budget. This makes several movies financially not viable. But this doesn’t deter superstars from asking for the moon. Their box office clout makes them good negotiators.
Several superstars are now co-producers of movies, instead of taking an upfront salary. They do not take their fees & instead ask for lifetime share of the movie’s gross. This way they get to earn a big chunk of the profits without taking on any risk whatsoever!
Blind Item
THIS leading film star is laughing all the way to the bank. While he was approached for a mega film last year, he quoted an astronomical figure of Rs 40 crore. The film’s director and producer — noted names in the industry — then went to a more bankable star, who showed interest, but unfortunately opted out of the film. The makers then went running back to the first actor, who then hiked his fee to — please sit down for this — Rs 60 crore. Well, he has been signed on, and is grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cat these days.
Our Guess:
Filmstar: Hrithik Roshan
Director & Producer: Karan Malhotra & Karan Johar
Movie: Shuddhi
